![]() When moving a source from FamilySearch to RootsMagic, the URL (if any) will be added as a WebTag attached to the source when it is brought over. ![]() If your RootsMagic source has a WebTag, the URL for that WebTag will be included when you copy the source to FamilySearch. Fig 3 Add Person Using RootsMagic The person will be added at the click of a button, taking the events and facts you already have entered in RootsMagic. Some options (like copying a source from RootsMagic to FamilySearch) will also ask you to enter a reason why you are making that change. To add a person using RootsMagic, you simply click on the FamilySearch icon on a profile and then click the Add to FamilySearch button, assuming there are no pre-existing matches (Fig 3). ![]() Choose what you want to do with the source and then select the options for that comand. You can copy a source from RootsMagic to FamilySearch, or from FamilySearch into RootsMagic, and you can also detach, tag or untag a source on FamilySearch. You can view more details about a particular source by clicking the information icon to the right of the source name.Ĭlicking the checkbox in front of a source will bring up a screen with one or more options available for the source. It is the only way I am aware of that can bring the Ancestry materials that are attached to each individual in your tree and place them in a folder on your computer. ![]() The source tab will display the sources attached to the RootsMagic person on the left and the sources attached to the FamilySearch person on the right. If you have RootsMagic, you can download your tree from Ancestry and not only the data is downloaded, but all the records and photos are downloaded into a folder in your document file. Once a RootsMagic person has been matched to a person on FamilySearch, you may wish to compare and exchange sources between RootsMagic and FamilySearch. RootsMagic is a FamilySearch Affiliate, and RootsMagic 4 will be a FamilySearch Certified application when it is released later this year.
